Learning Method

The learning process for undergraduate studies in the Electrical Engineering Department of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) follows the regulations stated in the Rector’s Regulation of Universitas Sebelas Maret Number 5821/UN27/HK/2016 concerning the Implementation and Management of Undergraduate Education. The system used is the Semester Credit System (SKS), in which the study load assigned to students per week per semester is measured through various forms of learning activities. One semester is an effective learning period of at least sixteen (16) weeks, including the mid-semester examination and final examination. In general, the undergraduate program is completed within 8 semesters.

  1. The study load for undergraduate students is determined by each study program according to the applicable curriculum.

  2. To fulfill the learning outcomes of the undergraduate program, students must complete a minimum of 144 credits (SKS).

  3. One academic year consists of two (2) semesters. Study programs may offer an inter-semester session in accordance with SN Dikti regulations.

  4. Further provisions regarding the implementation of the inter-semester session will be regulated separately.

  5. The study load in the first and second semesters is provided in the form of a fixed package, the amount of which is determined by the curriculum of the study program.

  6. After completing the first two semesters, students may take a higher study load depending on the Semester Performance Index (IPS) achieved, according to the provisions stated in the following table.

  7. One credit (SKS) in learning forms such as lectures, recitations, and tutorials includes:
    a. 50 minutes of face-to-face learning per week per semester;
    b. 60 minutes of structured assignment per week per semester; and
    c. 60 minutes of independent learning per week per semester.

  8. One credit (SKS) in seminars or similar forms of learning includes:
    a. 100 minutes of face-to-face learning per week per semester; and
    b. 70 minutes of independent learning per week per semester.

  9. One credit (SKS) in practical activities such as laboratory work, studio practice, workshop practice, field practice, research, community service, or other equivalent learning forms consists of 170 minutes per week per semester.
