SURAKARTA – The spirit of technological innovation colored the second day of the EL-SEMAR CONNECT #13 series of events organized by the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, Sebelas Maret University (UNS). On Wednesday (03/12/2025), the prestigious robotics competition titled EL-SEMAR ARENA was officially held at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium, UNS, bringing fierce competition between young innovators from various regions.
EL-SEMAR ARENA follows the first day of the national seminar, “Smart Green Energy: Strategies for Efficiency, Innovation, and Sustainability.” While the first day emphasized strengthening insights and discourse around green energy, the second day showcased the technical skills and creativity of students through a line-following robot competition.
- IFER Elite – SMKN 5 Surakarta
- SE-Khalifatah – SMA Negeri 1 Purworejo
- Mendadak Sigma – Universitas Sebelas Maret
- MRT_LUCKY STRIKE – Universitas Trunojoyo Madura
- MRT_LOUISE – Universitas Trunojoyo Madura
- DECIXUMA – Universitas Diponegoro
- UDIN GALONE – Universitas Diponegoro
- iDevbot
- MRT_Anyaa – Universitas Trunojoyo Madura
- MRT_Nesh – Universitas Trunojoyo Madura
- MRT_Alicee – Universitas Trunojoyo Madura
- MRT_KikukKikuk – Universitas Trunojoyo Madura
- QARITY – Universitas Semarang
- Pasukan Anti Gedor – SMAS Al-Izzah Batu
- SEMBADA EDU – BETTER
- ICHIBOT SUMATRAN
The presence of teams from various cities and institutions shows that interest in robotics, especially line follower robots, continues to grow and is becoming an interesting learning tool for both school and university students.
In this competition, participants are not only required to produce fast robots, but also to be stable, responsive, and consistent in reading track lines. The tracks used are designed in layers with varying levels of difficulty, testing the accuracy of sensors, control algorithms, and even the quality of robot assembly.
Each team must develop a strategy, from sensor selection and control parameter tuning to speed management, to ensure the robot completes the path as efficiently as possible without straying from the path. Even a small error, such as a delay in reading the line or an overly aggressive maneuver, can result in the robot deviating from the path and losing valuable time.
EL-SEMAR ARENA is not only a competitive arena but also a space for knowledge sharing. During the competition, participants discussed sensor configuration, microcontroller programming, and robot calibration techniques. This aligns with the spirit of EL-SEMAR CONNECT #13, which aims to foster a culture of collaboration and cross-institutional learning.
To further motivate participants, the EL-SEMAR ARENA committee has prepared a total prize pool of IDR 3,500,000.00 with the following details:
- 1st Place: Rp1,500,000.00
- 2nd Place: Rp1,200,000.00
- 3rd place: Rp. 800,000.00
After going through the single elimination round of 16 tournament, the three best teams emerged as winners:
- 1st Place: ICHIBOT SUMATRAN
- 2nd Place: MRT_Anyaa – Universitas Trunojoyo Madura
- 3rd Place: QARITY – Universitas Semarang
The winners demonstrated their superior robot stability, speed, and minimal errors while traversing the track. This victory was not only an achievement for the team but also brought honor to their respective schools and universities.
EL-SEMAR ARENA demonstrates that EL-SEMAR CONNECT #13 goes beyond discussions of energy, technology, and innovation concepts in a seminar room, but also provides a platform for students to actualize their technical skills. Through this line follower robot competition, participants are trained to integrate programming, electronics, control systems, and mechanical design into a single, concrete project.
In addition, the presence of a robot competition in the EL-SEMAR CONNECT #13 series is in line with the message conveyed on the first day of the seminar, that the academic world must be a source of ideas, innovations, and prototypes that can be implemented and provide benefits to society.
With the holding of EL-SEMAR ARENA, the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, UNS, reaffirms its commitment to supporting the development of young talents in the fields of technology and robotics, as well as strengthening the educational ecosystem that is adaptive to the development of industry 4.0 and the era of sustainable green energy.
